Faset, the elegance of Barbaresco
March marks the beginning of a new year of oenological experiences with Michele Chiarlo for our Wine Club members; we kick off this journey with our first lot of the year, dedicated to the prestigious Barbaresco DOCG Faset. A unique opportunity to explore the most elegant facet of Barbaresco through two extraordinary vintages that will leave you breathless.
Faset: an honorable… Menzione
Produced only in exceptional vintages and in limited quantities, Faset embodies the elegance and beauty of one of the most renowned Menzione geografica aggiuntiva (Mga) of Barbaresco, in the heart of the appellation. This icon of our production is born from a careful selection of Nebbiolo grapes from a one-hectare vineyard in the central and highest part of the appellation, perfectly facing southwest: a large and steep basin covered with vineyards, with the western side sloping towards the Tanaro River. The calcium and magnesium-rich soils make it an area of excellence, giving Barbaresco a silky texture, with elegant and aristocratic tannins.
Faset was also the first Barbaresco DOCG to be distributed by La Place de Bordeaux, the «Big League» of wine trade (as the network is often called by insiders), alongside the most famous labels in the world.
In the lot, you will find two great vintages of Barbaresco Faset: the vibrant 2019 and the refined 2016. Two extraordinary vintages, unique expressions of this remarkable territory, each with its own character and charm.
2019 | An outstanding harvest. In the mouth, character and structure harmonize beautifully, with a dense and silky tannin texture. An exceptional vintage, perfect for enjoying in its early years yet boasting remarkable and rare longevity. Best ratings:

2016 | The 2016 will be etched in memory for its exceptional quality. It was a harvest defined by weather following the classic seasonal patterns, without meteorological anomalies, which enabled the impeccably healthy grapes to attain a flawless and even ripening within the customary timeframe.
